A Friday walk with Camels and Egrets

Post by WorldInFocus » Fri Feb 02, 2018 5:17 pm

Hi All,

The Friday walk was quite at Wej Valley near Taif, Saudi Arabia. The weather was quite cloudy and much quieter than normal for bird life. That said we came across a large group of camels and their herder. For some reason every time we have seen camels at the river, there is always little egrets with them. This week we discovered how close the two get as you can see from the pictures. We also seen some of the regular visitors to the river and a few that I've not seen before.

Very nice set :thumb:

Even a camel herder has an ipod these days! :D

I can see why that Bee Eater is popular :thumb:

Egret on camel is a great catch

As usual, brilliant but the Red Stilts in flight looks very Star Wars.

Beautiful pics Ian, Especially like the camel close-ups and the bee eater
I've seen loads of bee eaters in northern Spain but could never get close enough for a decent shot
