Re: Flying Scotsman
There were only two photographers and a Greater Anglia manager at Shippea hill on Friday when the loco transited to Norwich. But maybe that was because the timetable wasn't publicised on Railcam diagrams nor was the actual RTT headcode (5Z60) as it showed 536E instead . A bit like a SAM Flight showing a QID callsign on ADSB

Re: Flying Scotsman
Andy: I wasn't even on the station; I was just trying to drive over Carrow bridge to pick the Missus up
They were 3 or 4 deep on the Norwich Ring Road over said bridge, which overlooks the throat of the station
No plod about, of course

Re: Flying Scotsman
All this fuss over some old steam engine... The railway equivalent of F-22's coming to LN...

Re: Flying Scotsman
I used my drone to look down on the train. If I had any idea how to post images on here I'd do so!
Great photos in this thread, any steam is pretty rare in East Anglia

Re: Flying Scotsman
Great photo's, haven't seen Flying Scotsman since the 1990's. Closest I got was last year when it was hauling a railtour to Aberystwyth, but was replaced by a Network Rail Class 97(Ex Class 37) for the run down the Cambrian(only ERTMS fitted class 158 Sprinters & 97301-4 are allowed on the Line).
Your photo of 90775 brought back memories. I remember her when I was a volunteer on the Mid Hants Railway back in the 1980's. She was then numbered 601,named "Sturdee" & painted in LMR(Longmoor Military Railway) Blue.

Hi Andy
Never seen a shot of Black Prince without the 'shields' on before
Wonder why they had been removed
Thanks for posting

Re: Flying Scotsman
I like the Standard 4 moguls ever since seeing a shed full of them at Kirkby Stephen in the mid 1950s. Being so used to numbers beginning with 4 on the W.C.M.L. (Oxenholme), I couldn't get my head around them beginning with 7; why the duplications? Some were class 2 780XXs which I didn't know at the time and there was at least a 76 and 78 having the same 'last two'

Re: Flying Scotsman
I remember seeing WD Austerity 90775 many moons ago when she was based on the NYMR, a beautiful loco. The NYMR also have her sister loco 3672 'Dame Vera Lynn' on the line awaiting overhaul... http://www.dameveralynn.co.uk/.
I do love the big freight loco's especially the 9fs'. Ivo Peters captured some cracking footage of these workhorses stomping over the old S&D route .

And there's plenty more where that came from!
