London Through A Telescope.

The majority of my London photographs have been taken through a Zeiss Sonnar 35mm/f2 or a Sony E10-18mm/f4 wide angle lens. I thought, could I get a different angle or perspective on things if I used a longer reach lens?. Only one way to find out. Rather than carry around my largeish and heavyish (854g) 70-300mm zoom lens, which when extended isn’t exactly inconspicuous on the streets, I dug out my small and virtually weightless (315g) Samyang Reflex 300mm f/6.3 ED UMC CS catadioptric or 'mirror' lens that looks like a mini telescope.

Apart from manual focus, not a problem with an electronic viewfinder and Manual Focus Assist/Focus Peaking, a down side to a mirror lens for a lot of people is the Bokeh (out of focus background). Because of the arrangement of the mirrors it can appear messy and distracting and depending on the background and lighting conditions out of focus highlights can produce small doughnut like shaped rings. Taken over several visits.

Excellent shots shot two shows the. bocka problem but with a bit of thought you get great shots like all the others were every one is being natural and unaware well done
