Bimbling West of Westminster Bridge.

Post by Pen Pusher » Sun Apr 16, 2017 1:50 pm

Most of my Thames side walks have been to the east of Westminster Bridge so I decided for a change of scenery and go west of Westminster Bridge and see if anything interesting caught my eye. Walked along the south bank toward Battersea passing the headquarters of, as shown on tourist maps as, ‘MI6 Secret Intelligence Service’ where as on the other side of the river the building is just named MI5. Had a wander around Battersea Park and then across the Albert Bridge and headed back towards Westminster passing along the way the Royal Hospital Chelsea where the Pensioners live and the flower show is held and after passing Tate Britain, into Victoria Tower Gardens which is due to be the home of the National Holocaust Memorial by 2021. It didn’t look far on Google maps but took me just over 4 hours. Weather wise, I had my gloves on to start with as there was a bit of a wind chill coming off the Thames, which was on the way out. There were dark clouds to start with but that thinned out during the morning and diffused the light and by the time I got back to Westminster Bridge, there was blue sky and sunshine and getting quite warm. Parts of the walk are definite candidates for a future night shoot. In the order taken.
