Re: TORNADO steam service run day one
Yes i saw on the live tv in the morning that when it left it was unfortunately going backwards, and with the diesel next to it.
I see from your images that the diesel was put at the back for the return run.
Good set of images and nice to see

I would imagine it was more a case of leaving the diesel where it was and just detaching and running "Tornado" up to the other end.The Phantom wrote:Yes i saw on the live tv in the morning that when it left it was unfortunately going backwards, and with the diesel next to it.

gone are the days of the turntable , amazing how two men could turn several tons of locomotive around using only their muscles , wouldnt be allowed today H&S and all that.

Did see that happen in July 2012 at Minehead with "Class 2884" 2-8-0 3850.
Of course, the real skill is getting the locomotive positioned exactly right on the turntable.

Not my photo, I can assure you. I wouldn't insult even flickr with the (lack of) quality of my point-and-press photos.

Hi Stuart nice to meet up again at Warton last week. Fantastic images of Tornado and the class 67 which was named Royal Diamond in celebration of the Diamond Wedding of HM Queen & Duke of Edinburgh.
