Good morning all, I wondered if anyone on here knew anything about HHA acquiring a phantom. I've just been reading on another social media site that apparently one has already been roaded to Scampton through Immingham docks with another airframe being flown in later this year as long as certain contracts are signed. I just wondered if anyone knew if this was true and had anymore information about this?
Also in terms of HHA how active are they flying wise at Scampton?

That would be a dream come true, but I'm sure any such attempts would hit the buffers in the same way that any attempts to make a Lightning airworthy have done in the past.
I think the nearest we came to seeing an FGR.2 flying again was when the OFMC acquired XV474 & the late Mark Hanna had intentions to return it to the air, but it never happened. He used to fast taxy it at Duxford .

i am of the belief that the CAA will never grant a certificate of airworthiness to anything with afterburners, otherwise we would have lots of private owners of fast jets ( be awesome wouldnt it?)

it will have to be on the military register tho, it will not get a civil registration

It has yet to arrive at Wittmund (also by road) and will only fly IF it comes out of the major overhaul fit apparently

When I saw the thread title I thought it was another way of conning the public out of donating cash to the 'Save Black Mike' fiasco. By the way, is 'Black Mike' still up at Leuchars?

37+89 is a spares christmas tree (plus an additional spares package), it should've arrived at Scampton by now. 38+48 is in flyable storage at Jever and is due later in the year. Here's 37+89 on it's way through the Netherlands last week. (photo credit - Bas Velders)

HHA Eng, can you say what its going to be used for, you guys already have the Buccaneer and Su-22. Is it speculative or is there a requirement for a Mach 2 aircraft for experimental flying in Europe?

My votes for a GR7 or Sea Harrier to the Sky. Without them the Falklands would now be Sky blue.

I don't think HHA are really into "name of aircraft" to the Sky projects. They just seem to collect very expensive to operate cold war jet types and store them in a hangar where no-one can see them for numerous years.

Yes that's all we do Mr capercaillie. We like to hide aircraft. That's why we have worked very hard to obtain the approvals to operate both on the civil and military reg. Pretty unique for a small company like ours and projects are ongoing that will need our aircraft and services, in the meantime while these projects are in development we have to maintain capability, currency, competency, compliance and service the aircraft in accordance with the maintenance programme. Maybe you might see some HHA aircraft flying one day. Would you like to come and give them a dust off.
