Re: Log/Req Boscombe Down 2/7/19

Hi Vulcan

With your inside knowledge, do you know if any of these Navy Merlins has "HMS Northumberland" on the nose?

I noted one in the Southside helicopter hangars on 6 Mar 17, and I've never tied it up.

Thanks,
DC.

Re: Swindon Shuttle bus

Sorry you guys had a rubbish journey.

On Saturday I took the 0710 shuttle, arriving 0740, and through security at 0810.

Leaving Fairford I was on the 1520, arriving Swindon 1545.

I always plan on early in, early home, to miss the traffic carnage.

Cheers

Re: Air Day 2018 Arrivals

Thanks Malcolm for the updates. The Chippie was the based WK608, on the static side. Rob - 516, 533, and 380 were side on in a row left to right as we drove in. 380 and 533 subsequently flew. 528 moved to our enclosure from near H13 during the day, and 514 was towed around to the static too. I've go...

Re: Air Day 2018 Arrivals

Just to clarify the 3 Hawks flying today were XX157 "CU" and XX329 "844/CU", which did the Commando Assault demo early on, and then XX324, coded "324", landed around 1245. There are a couple of Hawk typo's in the thread above. Wildcats ZZ384 and 408 flew with Merlins ZJ126 / K and ZJ130 / O to compl...

Re: Edwards AFB Tours

Hi Chester, I did the tour nearly 18 months ago. I sat away from others on the bus, and scribbled surreptitiously. You'll log plenty, but lots will go begging. Especially when you pass the packed F-16 / T-38 hangar, and the F-35 flightlines. It's still thoroughly worthwhile though, and very memorabl...

Boscombe Down EGDM 1-12-17

Log from 1045 - 1200 on Friday 1st Dec. Be advised that the road past the east side of the base, Allington Track, is closed for road works from the viewing area to the A338 junction until 26th February 2018. You can still access the viewing area from the north though. Cheers, DC QQ101 Avro RJ-100 XV...

I went last year. Rented a car at McCarran Airport for 24 hours for $53 with Hertz. Free parking at the Vegas Speedway, just north of the base. Free transfer onto the base via USAF bus. Lots of USAF personnel directing traffic and telling you where to go. Really, really easy. I stayed at La Quinta N...

August activity at Yeovilton?

Question for the locals - is there block summer leave at Yeovilton during August, similar to Culdrose?

We're holidaying near Lyme Regis from August 4th and we were going to drive up for a morning. However if the base is really quiet we may give it a miss.

Thanks, DC
