Not below 1000ft agl because they're clearly not in sight of the surface therefore must be flying IFR.

Re: CV22s this week

Well they'll certainly be getting the right sort of weather for the low level IMC training that they came for (well that and the long weekend of distillery visits :P )

Re: CV22s this week

Seen on another thread that the CV-22's departed Mildenhall at 1515 and 1530 ish, and both arrived at Lossie around 1630 ish. That makes an approx flight time of 1hr 15 mins over an approx distance of 440mls. That works out at 352mph/305kts, can they really transit that fast? No. I reckon the Milde...

Two CV22s due this week. They are due to use the Highlands Restricted Area on Thurs and Fri this week and Tues/Wed/Thu next week. Routing from Lossiemouth will be to the south of Inverness then down the Great Glen and across to enter the HRA at the south end of Skye. Looks like they'll be departing ...

Re: Leuchars busy next 3 week?

The exercise area is over the sea to the south of D604 and only barely overlaps with D604. Also, D604 hasn't been notified as being active above its usual 1500ft

Re: Leuchars busy next 3 week?

The airbase is expanding, just ask the UK Defence Minister, it was an exclusive in the Courier chap! No, he said the base is expanding, not the "air base". And if you read the article it looks likely he was simply referring to the fact that the long-planned move of Army units into Leuchars is conti...

Re: Jaded Thunder helis on the range. Big post.

Fab photos, well done!

Two questions on the AH6s:

1. What are the big boxes taking up the back seats?
2. What do they do when it rains???!!!

Re: Action at RAF Spadeadam/Otterburn in 2014

Those timetables are for Operational Low Flying, which is flying at less than 250 feet. That's only done by the RAF. B1s, B2s and B52s are no longer allowed to fly at less than 2000 ft agl over any part of the UK, except, with special MoD authorisation, down to 1000ft agl in LFA 14 only. Fair enough...

Re: Eagles this week

There's a KC10 at Leuchars all week and Spadeadam and associated airspace is open every evening. Suspect this is what the F15s are doing.
