Info on Typhoons please

Have been looking at all the great photo's posted on here. Have a couple of questions about the Typhoon. 1st do the RAF a/c have a Cannon? & 2nd looking at photo's of No6 Sqn a/c not all are fitted with the IR sensor(in front of cockpit),thought they were new build/latest version?
Thanks

Re: Tornado fleet to be slashed to 60?

Only 59 to go after yesterdays little misshap.

A friend of mine remarked to me that if they carry on reducing the number of RAF combat aircraft fairly soon the USAFE's 48th FW will have more jets in the UK than we have

Cold war jets footage on utube

Was looking at utube the other day and came across this film " World War III The Movie " Basic thread of film is it's 1990 Coup in USSR. USSR/East German Blockade on West Berlin leads to Warsaw Pact Forces invading West Germany. Quite a bit of air power footage from both sides including NATO- F4,F5,...

The 3 Chinooks that were doing some tight manovering at low level over my garden the other day were proberly a lot closer to each other than the F15's appeared to be in photo.

Re: Early Bentwaters A-10s

I was an apprentice at BT in the early 80's and remember them and the F111's flying over Bletchley Park when i was on my courses. Not noticed before but on the front of the starboard undercarriage the current A10's now sport a Black cover, is this some sort of sensor upgrade? As not seen on the above.

I've read else where on here that the 2 F16's that diverted to Preswick have now gone to the Hall. Anybody know how long they will be staying?

2012 RIAT Harrier display??

Just had a thought(wife said that was dangerous at my age!!) if the US do bring USS Wasp or one of her sisters to the UK for the Games in 2012. Maybe just maybe the USMC could be invited to the RIAT and bring a couple of their Harriers and some Helo's.

AGM65 Maverick

I assume with the Harrier pensioned off the M.O.D can get some money back selling the AGM65 Mavericks bought for the Harrier back to the Americans. As i understand(correct me if i'm wrong)the Tornado & Typhoon are not capable/cleared to use them.

Re: Marham 77 23/11/10

I assume the Harriers are having a final fling before they retire as never seen so many. Normally 1 or 2 never 4+ at any one time.

Just had 1 fly over but expecting more

I thought the SDR said the Harrier to be withdrawn by April 2011 why doesn't the Govenment tell the truth and say Harrier OSD December 2010!

RAF Website

Just been looking at the RAF Website and noticed that No6 Sqn has been put under the "Offensive Support" Section not "Air Defence & Airbourne Early Warning". The Sqn write up does say the Sqn will be responsible for the Northern QRA. I assume a web error as the other Typhoon Sqn's are in the correct...

Re: US Fighters escorting cargo plane

[quote="headset 57"]typical reaction by the US of Who, what they gonna do, stay up there and watch it blow up, or shoot it down; and pretend it blew up

At least they could give an exact location of the crash site for any rescue attempt
