Re: Typhoon diversions 18/8/20

Poor sod that had to go to Stornoway😩 I imagine he/she considers the alternative - ejecting into the Moray Firth - wasn’t too appealing. And there must surely be an internal inquiry into the operational decision to send jets out on the exercise when the weather forecasts for all the normal alternat...

So what happened to the NOTAM'd closure to visitors from 1st September? And has QRA moved to Leuchars yet?

It was apparently a Tornado, though I don't know where they got it from!

Re: Lossiemouth 2018 Visitor Statistics

Sad news indeed - and to think that, one Sunday afternoon in the early 1950s, my dad and his best chum crawled under what was then a three-strand barbed-wire fence at the 23 end for a closer inspection of some Sea Mosquitos living out their final days before being carted off for scrapping! Hmmm, di...

Re: Not Ranges more Low Level?

Now that the Tornados have left Lossiemouth you would wait weeks or months in any location north of the Central Belt before you saw a single low flying military aircraft.

Re: Weekend Closure 05/23 (24/3 & 25/3)

Given that Lossie's official opening hours are 0800-1800 Mon-Thu and 0800-1700 Fri this is something of a non-event. QRA will presumably be covered from Coningsby for the two days.

Re: Movements/Notams/Info RAF Spadeadam 2017

Bizarre. Why would Hawks drop practice bombs when (a) no Hawks are in front line service, (b) their only conceivable related role is FAC training which doesn't require any metal to be actually dropped and (c) practice bombs can only simulate dumb bombs which we surely wouldn't be using against an "I...

Guys, I think you'll find the "NO DANGER AREA CROSSING SERVICE AVAILABLE" NOTAMs for D510 and D510A for 0800-0900 each day this week are simply a notification that no-one is manning Spadeadam ATC at those times - they're starting an hour later because they're extending their hours to 1800 UTC at the...
