Re: Aviation Books to read

Just finished reading "Fast jets and other beasts" by Ian Hall - former Hunter, Phantom, Tornado and Jaguar pilot. An excellent read!
His other books include "Jaguar Boys" and "Tornado Boys".

Re: Sky News - UK C-130 - A400 fleet

Have a look at the latest edition of Air Forces Monthly. There is a very enlightening article about the Sudan evacuation. Information at the time of publishing records: France: 538 (incl 209 French nationals) Italy; 200 Spain: 104 (incl 34 Spanish nationals) Germany: 780 (incl 230 German nationals)...

Re: New Spitfire TV series on More 4 (UK)

There's a new TV series starting on More 4 at 2100 on Monday 28 September. It's called "Inside the Spitfire Factory" and is described as a "Documentary following Peter Monk and his crew over the course of a year as they try to restore the rusting remains of a 1943 Mark IX Spitfire to its former glo...

Re: Cuts to the RAF’s E-7 Wedgetail Fleet now only 3?

So the bean counters may be thinking if we pay for modifications and fit the AN/APS-154 AAS pod then we can cut the E-7 fleet requirement. It was my understanding that part of the large hangar is being given over along with support facilities to the Reds when they arrive. The East hangar will be bu...

Re: Why RAF Boscombe Down?

 Could be to reduce the risk to a large RAF station community. Agreed, perhaps the " powers that be " have determined that the returnees from the Diamond Princess are at a higher risk of being infected/infectious than those evacuated from Wuhan so handling the flight at Boscombe Down prote...

Re: Why RAF Boscombe Down?

Has no-one taken into account the direction of a rather strong breeze? Why struggle with a crosswind and then struggle with a diversion to a alternate airfield that’s not prepared for the logistics of such an arrival. Boscombe - dead quiet and straight into the wind. A couple more hours on a bus wi...

Hypersonic F35'S

Just read a feature in the Sunday Express that our new carriers will be equipped with the new F35,"which has a maximum speed of Mach 6 or 4,600 m.p.h."
should come in handy crossing the Atlantic in under an hour!
Or has the Express recruited a new journo from the Daily Fail?

Re: RIAT19 Serials

Thanks to Nitro999 for the spreadsheet - I am particularly keen to know the serial of the French KC135R - did anyone catch it?
Also does anyone know how many of these tankers they have please?. This is the only one I have ever seen.

RIAT19 Serials

Good afternoon gents,
I saw an article a while back with a link to a list of RIAT 19 serials - this was in the form of an excellent spreadsheet. Can anyone redirect me please?
Apologies if this is posted in the wrong area,

Re: RIAT post Mildenhall closure

If Mildenhall guys and gals are still at Fairford for the show does that mean we get all of the Burger stands that we all loved in the Mildenhall heyday. That would put a big sock in the food outlets that were ripping everyone off  We can but hope ! What a result that would be. If not then wh...

Hey all Took my mother who is her 70s to departures day. We headed initially to Park & View West but found it to be closed. Accordingly we headed for Park & View East.
