Re: B-52D Deployment 1979-82
Hi Gents
Unless I'm missing something in the FC archives, I can't see any direct mention of a (16th) July 1980 sighting of D's at Upper Heyford and on Oct 13th at Brize. Could somebody possibly confirm 40 years on that these dates are correct and any serials involved ?
Cheers
Bob

Re: USAF B52 Deployment 1981
Well many thanks Graham for such a quick and informative response. I can't imagine anyone else has such a detailed record of USAF activity in the UK over the last 50+ years. I did mention once when we spoke, that you ought to consider publishing your logs; not least because it would save the trouble...

Re: USAF B52 Deployment 1981
Can i just extend this thread a little longer. So what were the serials for the Sept 81 deployment please ? I also have a note from 25 June the previous year whch i cannot source and was wondering if anybody has the information for this one. ? In addition I have a recollection of a further deploymen...

Re: SR-91 Aurora
With internet sites such as FC, social media and general aviation monitoring , can't help wondering if in 2018 something black could be operated in UK airspace without attracting any attention ?

Re: B52s at Marham 1973
Thanks for another considered reply Graham. Your right 295 out of a total of 744 built does seem on the low side, but as you alluded to, logging was in its infancy in those days. Do you have any B/C Models to your name by chance ?
Kind regards

Re: EC 137 67-19417
Allegedly something to do with the rumoured crash of a Black Project at Boscombe Down on 26th Sept : though it still begs the question of why it landed at Exeter.

Re: EC 137 67-19417
Thanks Graham ; so it used a Reach callsign. I would have imagined it was anything other than a Reach mission. It was quite an intriguing episode that day and you must have been standing not a million miles away. The airframe itself seems to have had a varied career as an airliner, flying for among ...

EC 137 67-19417
The above aircraft unique because it used its construction number as its registration and was totally unmarked, visited Fairford on June 10th 1994. Does anyone happen to recall the callsign it used on the day ? Also on departure after collecting a high ranking officer from I think Boscombe Down he a...

Re: U2
The changeover last week left little time on the ground for both airframes. With tail 86 departing at silly o'clock the next morning, it would hardly give the pilot much rest after an 11 hour flight and definitely no time to refresh at the Bull Hotel. Would it be the same driver continuing onwards o...

Re: Mon15/6 and Tue16/6
I really think you are missing the point. For a start i don't doubt for one moment what you say is true, even if it does sound somewhat smug. However to announce through
FC that it may indeed be unwise to turn up on a given day, can hardly be construed as imparting a secret.

Re: Mon15/6 and Tue16/6
Probably true to say that nobody was actually told there would be no flying during a base event, but hey a little bit of common sense would indicate that it would be highly unlikely with visitors on the ground. Publishing advance notice wouldn't result in people trying to blag their way in, but it w...

Re: Mon15/6 and Tue16/6
Given that FC is usually a mine of first class information, It is all the more astonishing that there was no general heads up about the base activity this Tuesday. Quite clearly there were a large number of people who were aware of whats going on. Would it have been too difficult to give the rest of...

Re: Exercise Saber Strike - Advanced Info/Discussion
What a mental departure time and hope it was worth the effort for those that made it. When the Buffs deployed regularly during the 80s they seldom if ever commenced missions before 7.00am and then departures were always scheduled for the more civilised time of mid morning. So much for them always ke...
