Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024

I have had confirmation today by email that the Museum will be open weekdays 0900-1300. Entry is free but you will need to show your passport at the entrance. They have quite a large collection of aircraft.

Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024

I couldn't get the payment to go through yesterday evening using my Barclays app. However it went through first time today using my Barclays online account, and appears to have cleared more or less straight away. It including the option to print a receipt, which I have emailed to them (and have prin...

Re: Vigilants at Kemble

According to ukserials.com there are 16 at Kemble for scrapping, namely ZH116, ZH118, ZH119, ZH125, ZH126, ZH127, ZH145, ZH146, ZH148, ZH184, ZH193, ZH194, ZH205, ZH211, ZH268 and ZH270. According to "grahamdevizes" above, at least a dozen (his words) are in the "Belfast" compound, so perhaps all 16...

Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024

I applied on Monday of this week for my son and I, following the method suggested by slogan51 in his Jan 30th post earlier in this thread (thanks Mike) including photos of our passport pages. I heard back on Tuesday that we are accepted. The reply states that the unit (presumably at Adravida) will b...

Christmas 2023 Closure:

The current Benson ATIS states that ATC is now closed until 10:15z on Monday 8th January, so no Puma, Chinook or Grob activity until then. However the ATZ will remain active with Police, Air Ambulance and Flying Club aircraft operating in and out as normal.

Re: NATO selects the E-7 as replacement for the E-3

Sixteen active E-3s to be replaced by just six E-7s. Is this a sign that the E-7 is significantly more capable (or reliable) than the E-3?

Re: Confusion over fast jets.

Military fast jets do not transmit their positions. Instead sites like FR24 (and others) estimate the position of the aircraft based on people sharing data from their home-ADSB receivers. I think a 12 mile error is entirely possible, especially as they were at low level and flying through an area wi...

Re: VAR

Without VAR, Newcastle would have still beaten Arsenal. The Ref's and his assistant's real-time decision was that it was a goal. Football has always "suffered" from dodgy referee's decisions, and you have to hope that over a season the ones that go against you are balanced out by the ones for you. M...

Re: B1s at FFD last night

The two that flew were/are 103 and 119 (119 hasn't returned yet). Hence the ones on the pan must have been 107 and 124.

Arrived at 12:20L and departed at 15:10L, as "Swift 1" and "Swift 2", although the aircraft swopped around the callsigns while on the ground at Benson!

Re: Various Flypast NOTAMs - September

One of the two Hurricanes was BE505/XP-L (G-HHII) according to ADSB. I suspect the other was R4118/UP-W (G-HUPW). Both came from White Waltham, displayed, then night stopped, and have just left back to WW.

Re: Pilot Killed In Gender Reveal

Apparently there have been a whole series of airworthiness directives relating to the wing and strut attachment points on the PA25 Pawnee - will be interesting to see if this Mexican example had all of the ADs implemented.

Families Day 31 August:

Texan II ZM326 (from ADSB) has just arrived as "Valley 83", and is night stopping for the static for tomorrow's families day. There will be Puma and Chinook "pleasure" flights for families in the morning, then from various Notams: a) the airshow is 13:15 - 17:00 local b) parachutes (presumably the F...

ADSB Exchange replay shows ZM327 in the loop around 1645L, then recovering to Valley shortly there-after. No other Texans show around this time in the loop, nor recovering to Valley.

And two Typhoons operated from Benson for two days in April. Benson's press release at the time stated "The reason for the Typhoon activity is for training, for both the pilots and base itself to practise sustaining fast jet operations.".
