On the sunny day of 18th April 1987 Five USAF F-4s “retro flight”were seen contrailing off the ocean heading south over uk and rumoured to be going to Zweibrucken then destined to be gate guards or BDRF. Anyone got any info on these please?

Re: Call to save military airfields from closure
It would be daft not to support the retention of airfields, as we know not what horrors the future could bring. We were caught short with ww2, we should NEVER forget. At least some of the airfields could be kept for civilian use and supported, the world does not rotate around Heathrow. We have throw...

Re: Prestwick this morning...
That was utterly disgracefull for a young man to behave in such a way, what has become of the British people ? We used to have manners and respect our elders. Spotting and photography of aircraft is a great hobby, enjoyed by many, sadly the standards are slipping.

Hi Barthie :-) "PA010" was the MASDC inventory number for Lockheed DP-2H Neptune BuAer148343, c/n 726-7228, which lay in Allied yard for many years as spares for fire bombers. Had been in service of USN squadron VC-8 before retirement. Will look at more of your problems when I have time. Best Regard...

Re: Cochise College, AZ 9 Jul 1991
I wonder if this could be N2289 C-45J ex BuAer39928, built as SNB-1 c/n3660, later converted to SNB-5 then UC-45J. I note there is a photo of a C-45 in the weeds at Cochise College. (usdemobbed.org.uk) (photo credits to Mike Bursell). However N2289 noted at Cochise College April'89 (Geoff Goodall) a...

Hi again, "74629" was N74629, born as a Beech AT-11 41-27603 c/n 1448 (credit to Geoff Goodall's beech 18 production lists for info). It lay at Tucson IAP for many years and was reported there until April 1994.

Re: Tucson International and Arizona NG 19 Jul 1991
Hello Barthie, "080" would be 53-0809 F-86L (built as F-86D) which lay outside at Tucson IAP for many years at the mercy of sandstorms etc. I cannot trace a c/n, perhaps someone else could oblige? The MASDC inventory id for the H-34 would be 3H018, for the H-1 the masdc id. might be XA301?. having p...

Hi Barthie. I'm guessing, not much to go on, but could it have have been? - P-3A 151369 c/n 185-5082 which was subsequently converted to Fire Bomber "27" of Aero Union (N927AU).
