KC-707 Re'em arrives Mildenhall at sunset
A rumour about the Israeli KC-707 arriving at 2030L was circulating in John's Field during the morning, but as the storm clouds gathered and it started to rain in the early evening - hope was fading... I held on to a vision of the aircraft arriving with the sun peeking through a thin band of clear s...

Re: Swiss F-18 departures request
A clear view of all three pairs over Suffolk - not a case of 'dot-spotting', because the a/c were easily identifiable through my scope. So, I'm also after SUI402A/B, the one that wasn't J-5003. What seems to be a departure picture on the RAF Leeming FB page (here: https://www.facebook.com/raf.leemin...

Re: Request Mildenhall Sun 13/6/21
Hi, I was there at about the same time and the 3x C-17A parked adjacent to the straight stretch of the A1101 were: 07-7173 (Dover) - closest to Mildenhall town 05-5144 (March) 07-7188 (Charleston) There was another closer to the corner in West Row which you might have missed behind buildings: 08-819...

Re: Beale Historic Frames
Seeing the comment from dragonchaser that "I didn’t realise there were so many preserved U2’s" - I wondered if this counts as 'preserved'? Wasp over Suffolk - 16 October
Hi, At around 1030 on 16th October (last Friday) I'm fairly sure I saw a Wasp (helicopter!) to the East of Bury St Edmunds flying NNE. Presume this was XT787 (G-KAXT)**, but it wasn't showing on ADS-B. Confirmation would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve **Edit: now realise there are 3 airworthy Wasps i...

Re: Vampire FB5 VV217 - Location
If the 1980s was a "very long time ago", then I guess most of the youngsters on the forum will consider the following update to be pre-history - along with the dinosaurs... VV217 is possibly the reason for my lifelong interest in all things related to aviation. In the early 1960s this airframe was l...

KC-135 early hours of Monday morning
Hi
In the wee small hours of Monday morning KC-135R 61-0299 did several circuits in a racetrack pattern between Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket.
That's unusual timing and location - anyone know the reason?
It was certainly rather annoying to be woken up and kept awake.

Canon Warranty Paperwork
Hi I recently bought a new canon 'L' lens from a respected UK retailer. I was expecting there to be a pink/white warranty card in the box. It's been a while since I bought a new lens, so maybe Canon has changed their warranty paperwork. Thought I'd just check here to see what other folks think is us...

C17 over Bury St Edmunds Sunday 24th July 2016 - answered
Hi Would anyone happen to know the ID of the C17 that was over Bury St Edmunds at around 2pm last Sunday 24th please. It looked like he was positioning for an approach to Rwy 29. Thanks, Steve [Edit: many thanks to Banterops, I can now answer my own question: "1402 Arr 02-1111 C-17A 62nd AW RCH 700"]

Re: Lakenheath 28/04/2016
Hi Richard Do you happen to have a similar log for Friday 29th April please. There were a couple of F-22s landed at 1253, just before I parked up - and it would be great to know which of the 12 they were. Also at 1303 an F-22 ending in '1' landed... but it could be 081, 091 or 101 . Thanks for any h...

Re: Final Flight Video - 28/10/15
Hi Kev Really enjoyed that - for those of us too far away to dash to Finningley at 15 minutes notice, it's great to see the whole flight from beginning to end. Having previously looked at the PlanesTV footage, I hadn't realised that she made a touch and go before finally landing - at least you manag...

Re: possible October farewll tour announced in newsletter
Hi All I'm currently on hols in the Lakes, travelling back south in a few days time. This should give me the opportunity (weather permitting etc) to catch the Vulcan either 'up north' or 'down south'. Do we know yet which way around the north/south flights are on 10th/11th ? (I get the impression it...

Re: DM A-10,s M HALL
Thanks for the reply Robert. In case you other folks think I'm just being lazy... I didn't have a 'scope or long lens with me (dropped by Mildenhall on the off-chance on the way back from a walk). Looked at the ramp from several different vantage points - but Mrs Stainless was starting to get a bit ...

Re: DM A-10,s M HALL
Hi Would some kind soul please help to identify the three A10s in a line that were clearly visible from John's field (Saturday evening)... I did manage to see a fourth A10 (with the canopy up) parked separately from the others at what appeared to be around stand 43. Was that 81-0991 which arrived on...
