Tornado F3 ZE204

Yesterday the last aircraft to leave RAF Manston was handed over by Air Vice Marshall Da'Silva to the North East of England for display at the Air Museum in Sunderland.

The museum would love to see your photographs of ZE204 in service

Re: Sad end of Tornado F3 ZE204 @ Manston

ZE204 has a much happier ending as it is now on display at the North East Land, Sea and Air Museum in Sunderland

The aircraft was handed over by Air Vice Marshall Colin Da' Silva, Assistant Chief of the Air Staff and former Tornado F3 Navigator

Re: Tornado F3 Roadrunner

The correct fins are on the correct airframes as the build numbers were checked some time back * When the three Tornado F3's arrived at Manston, the tail fins were transported separate to the fuselages. There was talk at the time that the correct fins may not have been attached to the correct fusela...

ZE204 was on 25 Sqn before retirement to Shawbury. It still retained the code FC and tail markings when in use at Manston

Re: Gate Guard question

There is no central resource

Each are on charge of the station or squadron

Unfortunately some have been poorly maintained

All new gate guards require a maintenance plan to ensure they are looked after

Re: Vampire FB5 VV217 - Location

The Pod of VV217 is stored at Tilbury with the wings at London Colney.

After many years in storage at the North East Aircraft Museum in Sunderland the aircraft was donated by myself to the De Havilland collection in recognition of its association with John Derry

http://www.ericsusafpatches.nl/exercises/pagina/a_e.htm

Was originally only USAFE

Have a look at the patches on here it would imply that if Excalibur IV was 1988 that the first one was 1985

Excalibur IX was 1993

Re-started in 2005 to include other nations

Re: An unusual formation

The picture was taken in 1948 prior to the Farnborough Airshow.

The Meteor is probably RA490 the one with Metropolitan-Vickers Beryl Engines

Rolls Royce Flight Test and Development Aircraft in Formation

The Meteor has Trent turboprops. I think the Vampire is the Nene development aircraft

This is before 1951 as the Hornet was withdrawn at this time

Re: Syrian/Iraq air war and conflict

I hope this sad turn of events does not destroy the possibilities of Russia working in co-ordination with the coalition already in place destroying ISIS! Sadly I suspect that the destruction of ISIS is not the primary purpose of the Russian intervention The area that the aircraft was shot down is n...

Have a look here

The aircraft coded "F" could be a Hunter or a Javelin

The aircraft coded 20 could be one of the F100 Super Sabre

Good old David Walton and his cheque book, looking forward to seeing her again. Unfortunately not. If you want to see Black Mike at Bruntingthorpe you need to dig deep and contribute to the fund which is currently close to £30,000 short of the target to fund the purchase and move. Only needs 3,000 ...
