Re: New Rule Allows Military Aircraft to Turn Off ADS-B Transmissions

US warships have been doing this for some years, or using a spoof identlty, though the MMSI Number 000000000 or 99999999 usually gives the game away. French warships often do the same but using 888888888.

Re: Joint Warrior 19 Participants R&R Liverpool.

We tracked the ships of SNMCMG1 as they came north and only saw four (Thetis, Hinnøy, Dillingen and Cattistock) coming up the river. Thetis and Hinnøy secured at the landing stage while Dillingen and Cattistock entered Canning Dock. Do we know the identities of the other two? (we have 8 MCMVs on the...

Re: Has anyone else heard this story and is it true or even possible?

Lewis's story about Roland Beamont's arrival over the USA reminds me of the dit about the Canberra PR9 requesting clearance to join US Upper Airspace from Oceanic:
"RAFAIR xxxx request FL660"
"Yeah, if you can get that high"
"Thank you, descending to FL660"

Re: T6-c aircraft at valley

In its heyday, RAF Finningley operated 6 different types (a mix of piston, turboprop, jet, fast jet and rotary), happily integrating all on a single runway. To assist in identification, each of the aeroplanes had a different callsign suffix and headlight pattern.

Re: Online Radar and Radio Options

360Radar has by far the densest network of ground stations in the UK, and they don't need to be sophisticated. When I started contributing data, it was via a dongle with a twiglet aerial on the window sill and a biscuit tin for a ground plane.

The owners are usually the last people to want a structure listed, specially if they have purchased it for redevelopment.

Re: Specsavers England vs India Test match series

Before I retired, TMS was my constant companion in the car. Gasholders, buses, pigeons and dirigibles - the very essence of an English summer. When I was working at home, my ploy to minimise distraction was to listen to TMS and leave the TV on in the next room with the volume turned down. Then if so...

Re: Another MP jumps on the make me popular bandwagon - Low Flying Complaints

The "Machynlleth Loop" was created to deconflict low level traffic in transit, but has since become an objective in itself. There are plenty of other valleys in Wales which are underused by the UKLFS (e.g. here in Dyffryn Clwyd, we see fewer than half a dozen low fliers per annum, a fraction of the ...
