Where could a squadron operate from without aviation enthusiasts getting a photo?

The same place the B-21 prototypes and 'RQ-180s' have been flying from for the last five or so years.......

Re: BTF 22-2 General Discussion thread

In Sept 2020, they left for Minot between 10:00L and 14:00L. Luckily tomorrow is a normal working day when there won't be lots of people just driving by on the off chance they might see some Buffs flying.

Re: Mildenhall KC-135s

Thank you for sharing that. The 351st ARS then has roughly the same number of KC-135s as the 909th ARS in Japan, 16. That makes me think that the "100th's new squadron" may eventually be for something more than supporting more aircraft and more missions.

Re: BTF 22-2 General Discussion thread

BTFs aren't exercises or training deployments - they're (reasonably) random and unpredictable theatre presences requested by regional commanders, EUCOM for Europe, who ask they they demonstrate their full range of missions. They'll stay for as long as those commanders request their presence and the ...

Can we please get our words correct? This is a plane. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51YEoxF046L._AC_SS450_.jpg . Which is why they need magic to fly. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/04/e8/c6/04e8c685bfd7421db7a1c5e7fdd30c4c.jpg It really irritates some in the hobby when the seriousness of how t...

Re: 2nd Sqn for 100th ARW? - AFM

I bet there's a whole new chapter of European USAF base changes ahead, some of which will help explain why the 100th (and not necessarily Mildenhall) in the medium term require a second ARS. :halo: Maybe the 100th will move to Spang for example. :pop:

So why have two squadrons? There’s no limit to aircraft or crews on a squadron these days.

Re: 2nd Sqn for 100th ARW? - AFM

As Rama don't sell less than 25 patches per order I'm leaning towards thinking they often make their own versions of existing official patches because the primary supplier is out of materials or time, they've put their prices up, or someone's just joined the squadron who know can get a better deal. ...

Re: 23-03-2022

The two-seaters were operated ten years ago under a USAF owned/LMCO operated contract that didn't allow them to leave CONUS, rather than as USAF owned/USAF operated supported by LMCO in CONUS and OCONUS. I don't know if that's since changed to allow a UK visit.

All the USAF's single seat jets have been through here in the last 12 years, some more often than others. I don't know if people will count the new 099 as a new aircraft if we ever see it though?

Generally speaking - their full pressure suit viz means they like to be in radar controlled or at least monitored airspace when they're below FL600 which removes the need for traffic avoidance systems like ADSB - and when they're above FL600, well who do they need to avoid other than friends from Be...

Re: KC-135 art work on hangar

Looking through the history photos..... In March 1999, the smaller hangar had 'RAF Fairford 424 Air Base Squadron' on it while the 424th was activated in Aug 1994. I have a photo of an OL-UK U-2 parked in front of that hangar with ETTF on it in 1995, so the painting didn't happen that quickly. In la...

They have broken plenty of laws, you have to give sufficient notice of such a move and just can't dump this awful news on people. Not sure of the guys name on the video and frankly don't care but you should be ashamed of yourself in not even having the guts to do this face to face. Treat people how...

Re: Diesel prices

Whenever the price of a barrel drops and people ask why the forecourt prices haven't dropped the oil companies say it's because we are still using the fuel at the higher prices and it takes weeks to drop a few pence. Turn the tables and fuel shoots up immediately, long before the higher priced barr...

Re: F15s Showing their age ! !

The availability of spares is a problem for some USAF fleets, especially for those built during the 80s and 90s (F-22, B-2, B-1, F-15 etc.). Those fleets don't have a Boneyard with hundreds of spares in them nor do they have industry partners who can still make some of the much needed replacement p...
