Re: My late Waddington Airshow Set-2014 [Large Post]

hat tent and car ruined many of my shots by being too much of an eyesore, i really wish they would move them out of the way for airshows :P We tried to get them as far out of the way as possible right back on the fence line but the guys there were part of the flight safety team filming in case of a...

Re: Flares at Airshows

So what you're saying SATCO is, Waddington had an armed a/c on the apron and ATC nor Crash crews were aware of it? We don't have an apron as such, they were in a dispersal area and at that time most of the personnel near the aircraft were Turkish AF engineers and aircrew. ATC nor the crash crews we...

Re: Flares at Airshows

At Waddington we did not know that Solo Turk included flares during his display (not on the ribbon diagram or text explanation of the display profile). Once flares were released they were stopped for subsequent displays and the flares on the aircraft downloaded and stored until the aircraft departed...

Re: Flares at Airshows

The MAA regulations allow flares to be released at UK military displays, the issue is the safety distances once the aircraft are on the ground. In the UK (not in Europe or most of the rest of the world - RIAT operate to UK military regulations) aircraft loaded with flares are considered to be live a...

s it me or does that not make sense: to be confirmed, static, confirmed
It still has to be confirmed which squadron the aircraft is coming from.

Tried to PM but does not want to go through.

When you ring the phone does it still ring. If yes I'm close by and can go and listen this evening before the battery dies.

Re: 125.35 (Waddington Tower)

John W is correct, the Reds use 243.45 (I presume 234.45 was a typo) for the a/a freq and Waddington provide a radar service on 125.35 for the Red Arrows in R313 - the Reds like to know about traffic approaching the edges of the restricted area as sometimes, possibly due to weather, they manoeuvre o...

Re: Typhoon ISP Thursday 10th & Friday 11th October

Not the end of the season for the Typhoon as it's displaying at Waddington for ACPV (Air Combat Power Visit) at the beginning of Nov then it's off eastbound to the Dubai Airshow. To remain current the display pilot has to display every 8 days (last one was Fri 4 Oct), probably two days given as one ...

Re: Reds at Fowey

great shots, perhaps someone can answer, is it 'normal' to fly a routine with a back seater? shot 9
Probably Red 11 (OC RAFAT) as I think I see a red flying suit - if it was a future team member he/she would not have a red flying suit.

Forgot to add - biggest mistake IMHO was not parking the Swedes on the intersection, where the Thunderbirds parked 2 years ago and where the Red's Squirrels parked this year.
Sorry not an option that area is no longer available for jet aircraft, the surface is not maintained.

Re: RAF Waddington Airshow 2012

Not sure which way round it will be, but the present plan for the B-52 is for it to fly from it's base to do a flypast at Waddington and Avord (France) then RTB.
