Re: riat 2015

According to the RIAT website, all future shows are going to be 3 days. I'm told these dates will be at the start of the school summer holiday so the kids will be off on the Friday. The problem is that the dates for 2016, 15/16/17 July are the same as for Farnborough, 11-17 July. This will mean that...

B-52 Water Injection videos

I came across these videos the other day which I hadn't seen before. Certainly a sight never to be repeated! The first 3mins are of the B-52 starting and taxying, then around 9mins of smokey departures - try and spot the aircraft on the runway!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfTdRF66QPo (from 1989)...

Re: Paralympics Flypast?

I had a look at the paperwork for this at work earlier. The only flying display is by a civil twin prop (Tecnam P.2006T, G-TECT) that is going
to release some fireworks plus a news helicopter filming. No other flypasts are expected for the rest of the games, including the closing ceremony.

Re: Ecuadorian Legacy Northolt

Hi,

I believe this is due out sometime on Friday 31st. It caused some chaos en-route while over France.
The a/c suffered a comms failure for a while and was intercepted by French AF fighters (type not
known). These left before entering UK airspace when the Legacy regained comms with ATC.

Re: Low flying Helicopter - Burnham Berkshire

Hi,

This was civil Ec-120 G-LHMS, from Elstree via Burnham to a landing site south of Ascot. I was controlling
this at the time and the pilot was flying between 600 & 700ft to avoid some low cloud in the area. The
first Lynx sortie of the day wasn't until around 09.00.

Re: Northolt closed 30th Nov - 2nd Dec

Northolt approach are moving from the airfield to join us in TC at Swanwick and should be in place by the
beginning of December. I guess this closure is to allow all the last items to be transferred and tested.

Re: Thunderbirds

Ok cool thanks for the help. How do you know though whether you should be on AM etc? Is there actually a way to tell As a guide, if you're wanting to hear aircraft, it's almost certain that AM will be used, with the exception of a small number of air-air freqs (mostly special ops stuff and some hel...

Re: Thunderbirds

Thats very interesting to know. So if it automatically sets it to NFM (which mine does), what should it have been set on? Mine has AM,FM,NFM,WFM or WFM(Broadcast)? Cheers Should be set to AM. There are quite a few display teams that use high VHF in the 137 - 150 range, along with various air-air co...

The display frequency really confused me today.... the 4 ship were using 141.0750 and I couldnt hear a word they were saying. It was just all fuzzy. Any ideas why this was? Why couldnt I hear them if i was on the right frequency? I had the same problem, Larry. I know they've gone home but some info...
