Darrel Greenamyer dies.

Not a name familiar to the youngsters, but to some of us oldies, he was very well known. A Test Pilot at the Lockheed 'Skunk Works', he flew the Starfighter, U.2, A.12 and the S.R. 71. He also raced aircraft, gaining several world records. He rebuilt a Starfighter from spare parts over 13 years, bre...

Re: Last of the Delta Darts UPDATED

Tim3216, Indeed I was. Remember the location well. I think Al Key was threatened by a woman with a revolver for being on her land!!. My great departed friend David Reader, and also Mort Stanley were on the trip also. Regards, John.

Definitely a '71. The navigator's window is visible. There is an A.12 outside San Diego museum. Think it's the only one I've seen. Regards, John.

Re: B-1B finally ferried after fire and seat issues.

In the history of aviation, there have undoubtedly been quite a few 3 engine ferries. Indeed, I have a 'photo of a Lockheed Constellation being ferried, minus an engine, with a fairing to make it less draggy. Difficult to surmise over the B.1, because we don't have the required numbers [weight, heig...

Very nice. Some good planning in those. Particularly liked the 'tower buzzing' shot. I guess maybe the lead pilot's name was possibly Maverick?? :D

Re: RAF to get another 16x chinooks

There is a difference between 'typos' and bad spelling. All of us are guilty of the former, and , being an old f..t, I dislike dropping standards. It is very easy to check your post before submitting, and also very easy if you are unsure of spelling, to have a dictionary [as I do] next to your keybo...

Re: Bloodhound SSC

Corporate organisations get their money from the likes of you and I [the general public] if we have invested with them. The CEOs etc., have to answer to the shareholders as to where the money may go!.

Re: Bloodhound SSC

Is it more important to spend £25 million on 1,000 m.p.h.on sand, or better to improve things for the poor and needy.?? Anyway, it's not up to me to advise the public how to spend their money, but in my opinion this money will be hard to raise. Sceptical from me yet again, but I am an optimist with ...

Re: Bloodhound SSC

I am usually a supporter of all things British, and I appreciate that progress in most things is important. I have to question though why it is necessary to drive across the sand at 1,000 m.p.h.!!! 748m.p.h. has already been achieved. So to add another 250 m.p.h. is going to cost another £25 million...
