Chipmunks Operated by 8 Squadron

Hopefully a simple question. I know 8 Squadron periodically operated the de Havilland Chipmunk as a tail dragger continuation trainer/hack; did the squadron have any examples on strength in the early eighties and if so, is there a record of their serials/codes and whether they wore the squadron's un...

Your picture of HMS Belfast looks like a very well executed painting, not a photograph. Excellent work, thanks for sharing.

Re: Top Guns Inside The RAF

Hopefully the right place to ask a left-of-field but logical question one of my colleagues who watched this series has asked me "because I know about aircraft" but I'm stuck for an answer. What else do aircrew do when they are not actually flying (or preparing/debriefing a mission) - I'm guessing th...

Vendors at RIAT Accepting Cards or Cash.....?

Planning to go to my first RIAT since 2019.

Do most of the vendors and Food Court stands now accept card payments or is it still sensible to carry enough cash to pay for lunch ?

Many thanks

The shots of the Phantoms on the ramp remind me of that superb video Phantom Finale, parts 1 and 2.
Not sure if it's still available anywhere though.
There are various copies on Youtu.be

I remember that was a good day out Tim, it looks like most of your pictures were taken after the heavens opened.

Re: KLu F-16 vs Lightning F6 - Binbrook 1987

Excellent stuff! Despite the age gap I bet the Lightnings did hold their own in certain situations 😁 And it looked like better weather than the LLL Show 😳 Chris Allen refers to a similar deployment involving the Belgian Air Force's 349 Squadron F-16s in his book Fast Jets: in summary, after 5 to 6 ...

It's hard to believe that the youngest of the airframes is about sixty years old, they still look "new out of the box" !

Excellent set, looks like you made good use of the blue skies !

Can't help wondering if the roll by the "number two" F-35A in #7 is intended to arrest the aircraft's rate of climb and help the pilot join formation with his/her lead or if there's an element of "just because I can" in the manoeuvre ?
