Part of the history that has only recently come to light is that Dakotas were used at RAF Metheringham towards the end of the WWII, as RAF Metheringham became the Air Evacuation Centre for USAAF, receiving injured military personnel for repatriation to the United States, via Nocton Hall Hospital.
