RAAF EA-18G @ RED FLAG,

Just a thought Gents.
What has happen to the RAAF EA-18G Growler that had the engine fire during the RED FLAG earlier this year????

Was it shipped back to Amerley or to Boeing/Northrop-Grumman for repair.

Re: Can The Red Arrows Land 3 Abreast?

The reason that the Team lands has singletons is safety. When they come into land the odd jets (Reds1,3,5,7,9) move over to one side of the runway with the even jets (Reds 2,4,6 and 8) moving to the other side. This leaves a gap down the middle of the runway clean of any aircraft in case of one of t...

Re: A-29 tucano

Its probably possible but I doubt its economically feasible or particularly desirable. The Tucano was built under license by Shorts anyway and from what I've heard they were not particularly screwed together well (there are some really worrying tails of ejector seats that wont come out the cockpits...

I was told by a RN pilot working on the project that when the door is open and the British designed fan (Built by R-R) no air hits the door ....even in forward flight. :Wow:

Re: Base Visits

Up to now I have only managed to get one that I am working onto come to a conclustion and that was to RAF Marham, but that visit was a windowscreen tour of the base showing us the work being done for the introduction of the F-35 and took us nowhere near to the Tornado GR4s that we would have like to...

A friend of mine in the USA has asked me if there is any Gloster Meteors still fling in the UK.

I can remember a NF11 and a T7 but are they still flying or were they ground due to the crash at Shornham????

Re: RAF to scrap Sentinel surveillance aircraft due to cuts

Rumour is the whole fleet is going to be sold, possible to the US or a NATO partner. Would that 'Sold' be more like 'Given-away' ? Seems to be the usual Government route to bin a useful asset for negligible return & happy-slap each other on the basis of projected savings!.....Waaaaaaay before the p...

Re: F-Freddie Departs Lossiemouth

There should be a Operational Conversion Flight - OCF (like they did with the F3's on No.43 Sqn) formed at Marham to keep the standards checks on the current aircrews going.

|It would be a crying shame if she's not on the static -line at a major show this summer.

F-35C arrives at NAS Lemoore.

I have been getting press releases over the years from Lockheed Martin about the F-35 project and the latest came from the PAO at NAS Lemoore this weekend. On the 25/01/2017 the first four Lockheed Martin F-35C Lightning II's arrived at NAS Lemoore to reform the VFA-125 "Rough Raiders" making them t...

Re: buddy refuelling question

Some Tornado GR1's during the first gulf war was modified to carry a refuelling pod which was "borrowed" off the Germans but it was never used has there was enought Victors/VC-10/Tristars based out there.

Most or some of the Tornados modified became Tornado GR1B's

That's three from the VMFA-232 and one from the Blue Angels in the past year.

I think someone better checking/inspecting the F/A-18A/C Hornets a little more closely. :grr:

Blue Angels to get new Hornets.

It's been posted that Boeing has got a contract off the US Navy to convert a fleet of F/A-18E & F Super Hornets for the Blue Angels, replacing the mixed fleet of F/A-18A & C models currently being flown. :thumb: The work starts on Monday on the jets and it's most likely that the team will convert on...
