Re: Yorkshire Air Museum visit

XN974 is the first production Buccaneer S2, not a prototype. It spent at least half of its life at Holme on Spalding Moor in these attractive markings, where we used it on development work. When the RAF claimed 974 they painted it in camo, awful! By the way, S1 development a/c XK526 & 527 were first...

Re: Phabulous Phantoms (Updated- More Photos Added)

Thanks for a fantastic set of photo`s! I can almost smell the Avtur & the hot brakes! XT870 was the last a/c to be catapulted off the Ark! I was lucky to spend 24 years on Phantom development & repair. Modded a few of these. esp. 412 & 574, happy days.

They are actually Ajax ECM pods. We did the development work at Holme on Spalding.

jem60, If you Google, "Harrier GR. 5 ZD325", you will find lots of gen.But it can only be theory as a/c is on bottom of Atlantic.

Re: Remarkable Aircraft Tales

Not so much a good outcome either way, but the tale of the Harrier GR5 on test is quite interesting. The pilot was involuntarily ejected and sadly killed over Salisbury Plain, and the aircraft flew on, unmanned, for another 300 miles! It was intercepted by at least one F-15 and a C-5 Galaxy before ...

It's a RAF FG1 loaned back to FAA due to a shortage if memory serves.XT873 ? XT572 was also loaned also in RAF markings.I`ll try to check the serials.
