Re: D Day Squadron European tour 2024

Wonder if 'Whisky 7' will be allowed a fly through at Cottesmore like she did in 2014.

Re: Atlantic Conveyor - 40 years

I wonder if they ever found out what she was actually carrying on that fateful day. It did seem a lot of inventory items were 'lost' when she went down ;-)

All this reminiscing reminds me of the 1990 Battle of Britain Flypast, the whole flypast using Wittering as a datum. They were the days ;-)

First flight of the Chinese Navy AEW aircraft, designated Xian KJ-600. Likely there will be a carrier on-board delivery variant? https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attachments/commercial-vehicles/2049696d1598819286-indian-naval-aviation-air-arm-its-carriers-kj600.jpg https://www.forbes.com/sites/hisutt...

My first ever airshow, 10 years old. I think I might still have some Kodak Instamatic shots somewhere.

And if they weren't content with Bruntingthorpe the same fleet management company plans the same fate for RAF Wyton 🙁
Don't know what you mean regarding Wyton. The airfield might become full of cars but they can't touch the Tech Area or the Air Ambulance area; both are fenced off.

The only feasible option. Leeming and Wittering too close to A1 for safety reasons.

Aircraft down in the Falkland Islands used to have names, not sure if they still do.

There's a difference between scrapping and retirement. Look at the B52H (Wise Guy) that came out of retirement last year after 11 years ;-)

It won't be on an airfield as its illegal to fly drones within an airfield Flight Restriction Zone.
Not factually correct as RAF have 'flown' security drones around stations in the past and 700X operates out of RNAS Culdrose AFAIR

Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

If a Spotters Day was to be organised, we would have 10 pages of why, where, what and moans because it doesn’t fit in with everyone or cones are n front of aircraft. Just be glad that CW will give the people the opportunity to see something; heaven forbid we become a Russia of China type state and t...

Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

i think when the base sees how many people turn up for this, they will have to organise something akin to the Park and View for arrivals/departures if they hold another excercise at Waddo Why and who pays for such a facility? The RAF has a job to do, and its not supplying a facility that gets used ...

Re: World Tornado situation......

OUr fleet was slated to go out to mid-2020s, but then again so was Harrier; and look what has happened to both. As for spares, it depends on what you mean as the nuts and bolts elements will be passed around other current platforms to see if they need in the future. Larger bits, all depends on if th...
