Re: Blue Angels IMAX trailer

Hope it's as good as the trailer is. Only thing is my nearest IMAX is 40 miles away. Looked up my nearest one last night, it's around 70 miles away near Dunfermline. It's an odeon and in keeping with the modern trend of having a "slick" website it was absolutely useless trying to find out if they a...

Nice set Danny. I managed one day at Otterburn myself, but the weather was gack. Nice to see the return of flybys at Wiley.

Re: F35 on radar sites query.

Thanks for the replies. I do remember they appeared on ADSB when they first arrived at Marham, but not anymore and I don't think I've seen our colonial cousins airframes at all on there.

F35 on radar sites query.

Saw what I thought was my first F35 today, briefly, when I was at work and heard a similar sound 5-10 minutes later but unsighted. Using the playback features on ADSB and FR24 there is no sign of any jets in my area. Do the F35's show up on these sites?

Love the black Hornet. Had to look twice at it, as the black panels looked like canards and I thought it was some sort of test airframe.

Apaches at Otterburn.

I headed down to Otterburn on Wednesday to get the 2 Apaches that were working Spadeadam. The weather was rank rotten, but did provide some nice vortices from the rotor tips. 1 https://i.postimg.cc/wx5Dr3N1/01.jpg 2 https://i.postimg.cc/6qKn3xk6/02.jpg 3 https://i.postimg.cc/SKXW1rL4/03.jpg 4 https:...

Wasn't working for me yesterday morning, but running late afternoon. Unfortunately too late to take a trip to down to Otterburn and see the Apaches that were in. Sods law.

Is 11 sqn involved?
Also if anyone knows the inside leg measurements of the pilots, that would be useful.

Since the Typhoon fleet is generally devoid of any Sqn markings, have these been added for going out there?

Re: Mallet Blow exercises ??

Heard the Bucc story before and can understand how it happened. There was an old 50's style bin lorry on the range that was one of the targets. It was usually the main target and it was painted in large black and white checks. Unfortunately the FAC's caravan was also painted in large black and whit...

It all depends on what you call low level.
The RAF officially class low level as anything below 2,000ft.
I know that, but for me, if it's not down to 250 feet or lower it doesn't count. :P

Re: Mallet Blow exercises ??

Recognise a few of those names Pete, also Keith from Maryport(?), sadly no longer with us. Tristram was a top bloke, I think he rejoined the RAF as a reservist Air Traffic Controller and did a tour in the Falklands. There was also at one point, a Para Major FAC, Scottish bloke, looked a bit menacing...
