Re: UKAR down?

We’re working at getting it back online ASAP. It should be back over the weekend. I’m sorry to hear some people’s negative experiences with the place. I’m happy to discuss with anyone privately if there are any ongoing issues (as opposed to historic ones, which I am well aware of and we’ve since, I ...

Re: 2018 deployment comparison

Interesting to read back, but I’m happy to be corrected as this is just from memory, but I think the 2018 deployment was affected by the fleet-wide grounding due to ejection seat problems?

Re: Movements 15/10/21

And as soon as I typed that the APU on 136 started up again for, I lose count, about the fifth or sixth time today.

Re: Movements 15/10/21

All APUs have been turned off now, and they’re putting the intake covers back into 110 (& poss 136, but it’s more difficult to make out, there’s an engineer in the cockpit).

Re: Movements 15/10/21

I’m sat at the 09 end, happy to be corrected but I don’t think the crew are in. They’re currently running the APU on 110, and ran the APU on 136 but have stopped that now. Some activity but not significant and I can’t see any crew/guys in flight suits Edit to add - I can’t see 140 clearly, so there ...

I didn’t want to clog up the thread earlier, but now that they’re in I’d like to give my thanks to those knowledgeable guys offering such great info as always.

Top work guys, greatly appreciated!

Re: Yeovil (Westland) Sightings Spring 2021

Apols if already mentioned, but Leonardo is basing a black AW189 in the guise of a 149 to push for the Puma replacement.

Due to be unveiled next month.

Re: Yeovil Residents Dec 2020

That’s a fantastic list, well done!

Re the HC4As, I think ZK001 is “AF”.

“AD” is ZJ995 which was flying whilst I was there on 23.10.2020 but might have now been delivered.

Cutting edge classics - Tom_J at Yeovil

Hi everyone, Instead of catching the Landor 747 leaving Cardiff as planned, so as not to waste the day of leave, I spent yesterday down at Yeovil again. Thought I might give that little Portuguese Lynx one last blast, seeing as I’ve been hunting it since lockdown ended (and slightly before COVID, wh...

Great pics. The non-folding main rotors are a big difference compared to the already converted HC4s.
And a different load-lifting system - no hook in the middle of the floor!

Tom_J at Yeovil

In a last dash of freedom before Welsh lockdown, I popped to Yeovil on Thursday to see what was about. Good to catch my first Crowsnest Merlin, plus a pair of HC4As, now sans black nose, and fewer cabin windows, leaving little cosmetic difference between the standard HC4s. https://live.staticflickr....

Re: Yeovil (Westland) Sightings Spring 2020

I seldom post here much, but keep up the good work, lads. Does anyone know the status of the Portuguese Lynx? That's on the list of things I'd love to see! New rescue helicopters in a row outside the factory in Yeovil today, in the photo one of Italy's new AW101 CSAR helicopters together with three ...

Tom_J at Yeovil (Dec '19)

Whilst working from home (I can't recall the last time I visited from a laptop!), I thought I'd share a couple of images from a busy Yeovil in December. It was quite a good day, apparently the Italian HH-101As are suffering from heat issues with the black cabs, so they'll all go this colour - and I ...

Tom_J at Yeovil 30/11/2018

Hi all, I had a good haul from Yeovil on Friday. I'm glad I decided to pop there rather than the SPTA - I've been after that Brazilian Lynx for ages! The Philippine Navy Wildcat flew twice during the day, once first thing, then later in the afternoon, carrying ZZ549. I popped to the East end first t...

Tom_J at Yeovil/Yeovilton - 19-01-18

Once again with a very helpful head's up from RichP, and enjoying the last of the spare time I have at the moment, I popped to Yeovil yesterday to see the second Norwegian AW101 depart (hopefully it lasts longer than the first example!), and then I stopped by Yeovilton on the way home - it's been an...

Tom_J's Lynx Finale

I've always loved the Lynx, alongside the Gazelle they were the first two helicopters that really got me hooked. I never really could do much to catch as many AH7s before they disappeared, and I didn't want to make the mistake with the AH9s. (With some very helpful information from Rich gratefully r...
