Re: North Korea considers strike on Guam

So Russia wants appeasement, China wants...Actually I am not sure what they want, apart from some rather naive thinking that if the Septics and the ROK stop having exercises then NK will somehow decide to stop and play nicely with the other children. Yes, OK....Lets leave that daft idea aside! Perso...

Re: News Westminister security incident

Not sure why everyone's so hung up on what the Yanks did with Japanese citizens. What do you think we did with Japanese/German/Italian civilians? What do you think happened to Brits in Germany at the start of WW2? Anyway, neither here nor there, Internment isn't going to happen in the UK, no matter ...

Re: North Korea considers strike on Guam

I doubt either Russia or China would fight with NK now. The world's a different place, and while both remain left of centre, they are much more reliant on Western goods now. War would remove that, and their systems would survive, it wouldn't be comfortable. Nor will the Chinese put a bullet in his h...

Re: North Korea considers strike on Guam

Sparts99 No, fallout is sucked up dust dirt & debris from the area of blast. It's dependent on the weapon being exploded low enough that debris to be sucked up into the low pressure areas caused by the blast wave. So small island, or indeed water, doesn't matter fall out is the result. But not all w...

Re: North Korea considers strike on Guam

The UN? Are currently showing how pointless they are, they had a chat, and unanimously decided and resolved...................To do rock all new. So that's that then. Short Fat One will continue development of warheads and at some point will mate missiles to them. At which point its all a bit late. ...

1. A. If you can't see a police car, marked or otherwise behind you b. You can't be bothered to look out in front of you for someone pointing something at you, or a van parked with blacked out windows or the numerous other clues that there's a speed trap. c. You can't work out are on a road, clearly...

Re: *Trump versus Clinton..

Yes, Obarma did get blocked, but then both houses were held by the opposition, not the same with Trump.

I suspect he will not be anywhere near as bad as people are painting. Also when faced with reality, some of his dafter ideas will not happen.

Re: RAF to Consider Fitting Booms to Voyager

Would it be cheaper to buy/lease KC-135s with pods for probe & drogue on the wings? I suspect not with all the infrastructure that would be needed even allowing for Sentry and Airseeker commonality. But just supposing it was, does the Air Tanker contract allow it ? Nope part of the stitch up....Oh ...

Re: RAF to Consider Fitting Booms to Voyager

Of course it will be allowed under PFI! The RAF can ask for anything they like from air tanker.....absolutely anything. However, it will cost. If bolting on a boom by airbus would cost for example £1 million, air tanker will do it for £5 Million. Something HM (Labour!) Government didn't consider.......

Re: Which ATC Squadron are/were you a member of?

73 Squadron (Huntingdon), which met at RAF Brampton, from 1976-1979 IIRC. Andy Did any of the RAFG Stations have ATC Squadrons based there for the dependents of the serving personnel? Up to at least 1978 there were NO ATC Squadrons in Germany. Something to do with it being an unpopular idea with th...

Re: MOD Sell Off

I lived there for 4 months in married quarters. Worst 4 months of my life. I was lucky, I left home which got me away from it. Although the station was used at the time by the pongo RCT Junior Leaders Regt, and the airfield was completely out of use. The quarters were in pooh order, there was nothin...

Re: Beware new speed limits Lakenheath

"it's not speed that kills" No, it's the massive deceleration on the body that kills. However, if you aren't at an excessive speed, that can't come into play! The above line is often trotted out by those who have never investigated a RTC, never will and know SFA about it. I'll agree that driver beha...

Wouldn't it be better to wait and see? The implication in the question that it's fishing for another "We're doomed" story. So far the "We're doomed' mongers aren't showing themselves to be accurate. Although, if The former Remains are to be believed we need to ramp everything up for WW3, which will ...

Re: Brexit - EU Poll

Kyules Do you work for Cameron? The £ has dropped in value, but isn't anywhere near where it has been in the past. In fact it seems to be recovering. Same with the stock market, no where near as bad as it has been (I can remember the footsie being at 98, yes thats right, ninety eight!). Both of thos...
