Thanks gents. I must admit to being a bit disappointed about the F-16s taxiing down the runway. The previous afternoon when I had gone over everybody had gone South. Of course it had gone grey and overcast by then, as usual!

Mildenhall and Lakenheath Friday 15th
Gents, My only run out doing this exercise that brought any decent results. Mildenhall first for the 480th, although only 4 came past Folly, then they decided to do a FOD check and send the remainder down the runway. https://i.ibb.co/YtRHMCd/2G5A1559.jpg https://i.ibb.co/DVJ6KTZ/2G5A1617.jpg https:/...

More Wattisham this week.
Gents, Following up from earlier in the week, here's some more from yesterday after the clouds cleared. Army Air 311 landing at the 05 end. Another 'naked' AH-64E! https://i.ibb.co/kM1qcFc/2G5A9024.jpg https://i.ibb.co/GQQjGCz/2G5A9034.jpg https://i.ibb.co/MS7FGSZ/2G5A9150.jpg The first of the remai...

Thanks guys, here's 'Juggernaut' section of three landing a little while ago this evening after returning from Scotland. Turning for 23, still in the cloud that had covered Wattisham for the last hour at this point. https://i.ibb.co/tLxzwnJ/2G5A8927.jpg Then sunshine! https://i.ibb.co/nQVfMQd/2G5A89...

Finally some Wattisham activity!
Gents, The summer evening season at Wattisham has been a slow burner so far this year. Finally some decent light into the evenings has coincided with most of the Apaches away so the last couple of weeks have been rather frustrating. I caught 'Award 070' showing as AA311 on ADS-B this evening with so...

Re: More Lakenheath
Many thanks guys and the approaches by the '35s are certainly different. Every time I've popped over this year I've seen the vertical climb off the departure end, roll off the top and the dive down onto the approach at that end.

Wattisham Families day
Gents, Nearly a washout yesterday with most of the planned flying canned due to rain. Pity as there seemed to be quite a nice line up as well. AAC still flew a Apache pair in the afternoon and the sun even came out when they taxied back in. Here's a few I could salvage. 'Viper' section from 4 Reg ro...

Gents, The better image that has a clearly visible GR3 is a CGI/artist mock up and is not a real photo. It was done to demonstrate (arranged or made by Nick Pope I believe) what the now released image looked like prior to it now being in the public domain. Nick Pope saw it during his time with the M...

Re: Moody skies at Lakenheath.
Gents, Many thanks and apologises for causing a little confusion over on the days heads-up thread. Not that I get much chance nowadays to try it, but the long summer months which makes that side viable for the light is well worth a try, even just on the locals. I remember the final summer deployment...

Moody skies at Lakenheath.
Gents, A few from about a hours quick stop at Lakenheath North side with the aim of hopefully catching a few from this weeks early evening recoveries. The forecast clearing skies didn't quite happen as hoped for and it nearly looked like a complete bust but for the 10 minutes when the light did get ...

Re: Runway State
Gents,
It's been like this for a while. Last heavy landing was a An-124 on the 24th August 2018. Families day in 2019 saw a CV-22 land which surprised me.

Apaches this week so far.
Gents, Two evenings in and a few Apaches working around Wattisham in the fine weather so far. It's not exactly busy and the Echo build up still seems very slow, with a couple at most flying and usually just the solo in the evening. First shots of a Echo on a runway 23 approach. Final shot catching t...

Re: First AH-64E's.
Really have to look hard to see the difference between old and new! Did the 'E' sound different to you Gary? Not enough to tell them apart without looking. These are the first I've seen close up but I live close enough to hear them running on the pan, let alone operating in the circuit so I've hear...

First AH-64E's.
Gents, Nearly eighteen months after first arriving at Wattisham, and getting on for five months after first UK based flight, I finally got to see a couple of these close earlier this evening when Ugly section went out for a local sortie. First trip up since last summer but no change, business as usu...

Re: Couple of days at Lakenheath.
HI Gary . A nice set of pictures there . Did you manage to get a more detailed shot of the artwork on 87 187 SJ ? It looks as though the middle part is made up of the flags of the countries that it has visited on this deployment . This frame was one of the 6 that went to Estonia. Regards M Gents, T...

Couple of days at Lakenheath.
Hi gents, I know there's been a load of Lakenheath from the fine weather in the last week or so but here's my contribution from Wednesday and Thursday. 06 was the order of the day for Wednesday and I was hoping for some of the banks and quick climbs from the few days before. With one exception, nobo...

Re: Ever Alp at Felixstowe.
What make of drone? P. Hi, DJI Mini 2. It's probably the most common model amongst private operators as it has serious amateur/ semi pro capabilities at a reasonable price. It also comes in under the 250g mark so as a A1 class drone it avoids the more tougher regulations that apply to heavier equip...
