Re: KC130 crew named. RIP.

It is a heartbreaking accident AR appears to be such an everyday routine occurrence from Mildenhall that it is easy for outsiders like us to forget about the potential dangers. They certainly put in a lot of training to try and counteract those dangers. The MC-130s are regularly out refuelling at ni...

Re: EF-111's

What a cracking looking jet the EF-111 was.

Living in Surrey, Heyford was my nearest 'real' base and was always worth a visit for weekend visitors.

Re: Tornado Farewell Photo shoot 25th January 2019

Slogen - I do agree with you to an extent there as you are right, it does seem unfair. However, when the majority of your audience is on the most common form of social media then they will believe it is best to publish it that way - and ‘first come first serve’ is a tried and tested method. I do lo...

Re: Tornado Farewell Photo shoot 25th January 2019

Exactly blue diamond. Other people saying ‘They should host another one, it would be good for charity” - No, you are just desparate to get on there!! Unfortunately, it is one of those tough things in life. All about a bit of luck as to when you saw the post. First fome first serve - end of!! I will...

Re: Tornado Farewell Photo shoot 25th January 2019

You will get just as good shots from outside the fence at Marham as those served up on a plate at an event. Besides the tornados have been around for quite a long time and seen at one time or another at virtually every UK military airfield , and in the past with much nicer camouflage. Good luck to t...

Wonder if we painted up spitfires to look like ME109 etc during the War?

Re: Day and Night, Saudi's and a Cable.

Thanks

I wasn't being nosey - I was interested in what settings you used to get your night shots. I really like the lighting.

I have tried night shots at the heath but basically mine just look like they were taken in the dark :)

Re: Day and Night, Saudi's and a Cable.

Night shots do look good

( I think your camera clock is a bit out - Flickr says the night shots were taken at 09:36 it was a dull day but not that dark!)

Re: MARHAM ONE ZERO - 10-12-2018

I like that mainly because you identify the aircraft in the caption or file name. For me too many shots are of anonymous machines. Marham is a bit hit or miss these days Usually if they are on earlies then the first mission is normally after 10:30 , sometimes nearer 11:00 with the obvious knock on i...

Re: Lost binoculars at Marham

Ho ho ho That does remind me of when earlier in the summer PLMC135 and I were sitting in garden chairs by the lane to the egul viewing area waiting for some Coronet east to arrive. the Jets duly landed and everyone rushed off. I arrived home and realized that I had left the two chairs under the tree...

What next! Two ladders and a pair of binoculars, a world record Mike?

I am clearly losing the plot , I put it down to the lack of numbers here lately. I will have to go down to Stansted and bash the Ryanairs when I get a new pair of bins!

Lost binoculars at Marham

Hi I think I left a small pair of binoculars on the car roof while I was at Marham the other day

They are either in White lane or at crash gate 5

They are only small but we're quite expensive 10 years ago!

Thanks if you come across them.

Re: Any Eagles up today?

17:00 Flex 61 climbing out

Currently a single ship

Followed by Dude 41 and Ginis 21 flights

Going to meet with Quid 02 I think

Quid 02 was going to refuel Strix 02 but cancelled telling the MC-130 that they (Quid) were far to heavy?

Tyndall May 1994 - The Eagles

Not strictly nostalgia but last week I posted some F-106 shots from Tyndall 1994 so just for completeness I thought I would load up some of the Eagles taken on the same day 2 May 1994. If i remember rightly it was Moody AFB for the morning launch then a rush down south for the midday Tyndall tour? h...
